About The Position

This benchmark is intended to be used by companies that have generic classifications engaged in research and/or product development encompassing primarily one or more of the following engineering disciplines: electronics, electrical, mechanical, and/or chemical. Manager Engineering 2 position is in department E86 Nuclear Propulsion - Construction and Process Engineering. Specific area of responsibility is the Component Fabrication & Assembly (CFA) group, responsible for providing engineering support to all shop activities involved in the fabrication, construction and testing of new construction CVN propulsion plant mechanical systems directly supporting all South Side shops including the Nuclear, Detail, and Assembly Pipe Shops, Main Machine Shop, Sheet Metal Shop, Hanger Shop, and Foundry.Must HaveBachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Experience working at a high level and the ability to drive work on multiple concurrent tasks with multiple cognizant levels of engineers
The ability to understand propulsion plant construction issues and lead a team to arrive at a solution
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Able to aid in developing resolutions to engineering/design/construction issues and drive to completion
Able to provide clear direction to personnel to meet schedule needs and represent the organization on project/construction issues
Knowledge of CVN 78 propulsion plant systems
Ability to lead a team of engineers
