About The Position

The Neurodiagnostic Technologist III performs EEG, evoked potentials, nerve conduction study testing, and intraoperative neuromonitoring. This is an advanced level position for highly skilled and knowledgeable specialists with a minimum of five years' experience in neurodiagnostic testing and intraoperative neuromonitoring. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.

Requirements

  • Board certification by a nationally recognized accreditation body (ABRET, ABEM, or AAET) is required.
  • Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) or; Board registry in EEG (R. EEG T.) and nerve conduction studies (CNCT, RNCST) or; Board certified in EEG (R. EEG T.) and long-term EEG monitoring (CLTM).
  • BLS: Basic Life Support within 1 month of hire or transfer.
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP neurodiagnostic technology program (or equivalent) or 1-2 years college level courses with emphasis in allied health, anatomy & physiology.
  • Completion of ASETs Core EEG Curriculum within 36 months of hire or board certified in EEG (R.EEG T).
  • Minimum of five years patient care experience performing neurodiagnostic patient testing and intraoperative neuromonitoring preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform adult and pediatric neurodiagnostic testing and intraoperative neuromonitoring in accordance with established protocols, age specific guidelines, and national competency standards.
  • Document relevant clinical observations and prepare technical summary for physician review. Identify and report critical test results to interpreting physician or supervisor/manager.
  • Assist in orientation and training of students and new employees.
  • Describe normal and abnormal clinical manifestations, waveforms, patterns, and clinical events observed during testing. Identify physiologic and non-physiologic artifacts and take appropriate steps to eliminate them.
  • Maintain proper documentation of patient appointment schedule, entering charges, and entering results in the electronic health record in compliance with HIPAAs Privacy Rule.
  • Practice infection control standards relating to patient and equipment; maintain work area in an organized and sanitary manner.
  • Attend continuing education seminars to increase knowledge and proficiency and obtain continuing education credits as required for recertification. Participate in mandatory education, in-service meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Perform tasks and other miscellaneous duties including patient appointment reminders, order/stocking supplies as assigned.
  • May be assigned to other MyMichigan Neurodiagnostic Testing locations to ensure optimal staffing and patient care throughout the healthcare system.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to meet departmental needs outside of regularly scheduled hours.
