About The Position

Orientation Leaders (OLs) are student leaders who possess a strong desire to work with new students and their supporters during Orientation Programs. OLs contribute to the University’s New Student Orientations through leadership, peer mentorship, and customer service excellence. Requirements

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above
  • Declared as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at TNS for Fall 2026
  • Be in good academic and conduct standing with The New School
  • A passion for supporting students transitioning into campus life and orientation at large
  • Present themselves as positive role models
  • Be reliable, responsible, confident, and adaptable
  • Be able to work as a team player and motivate co-workers
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population of individuals
  • Possess organizational skills and strong interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and acclimate new students and their families to campus during New Student Orientation programs
  • Lead new students through engagement activities
  • Support a variety of in-person on-campus and off-campus events for new students
  • Manage a cohort of roughly 50 new undergraduate students
  • Assist in marketing and social media campaigns throughout the Orientation season
  • Introduce new students to campus resources and support systems
  • Respond to tasks on time; help troubleshoot difficult situations
  • Serve as a positive student leader and representative of the New School
  • Other duties as assigned
