About The Position

The N.C. Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) serves as the Technology Center for the State of NC. Services that NCDIT provides reach a client base of state and local government agencies, as well as schools, colleges and universities. NCDIT’s mission is to enable trusted business-driven solutions that meet the needs of North Carolinians. NCDIT provides technology services to state agencies and is charged with closing the digital divide by expanding availability of broadband services and promoting the adoption of affordable, high-speed internet. Salary Range: $70,528 - $105,793 The position is designated Statutory Exempt (EHRA) and is exempt from the State Human Resources Act This position works in office each day at the NCDIT Incident Management Center (IMC). Work schedule is day shift which will include Saturday as a regular working day. Schedule is Thursday-Saturday with an alternating Wednesday. Are you ready to take the next step in your career? About the Division: The NCDIT Incident Management Center is a 24×7 operations center that monitors and reacts to events for services provided by NCDIT to other state agencies and to the public. Supported services include Network, Network Security, Mainframe, Server Hosting, Voice, Data Center, and enterprise applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer engineering, engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years progressive experience in the field of information technology including experience in Operations or Systems work or Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years progressive experience in the field of information technology including operations or systems experience or Associate degree in computer information technology, computer engineering technology or networking technology from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in operations/systems work or closely related area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and basic understanding of ITIL framework
  • ITIL Foundation or other relevant IT certifications
  • Understanding of multi-tiered Service Level Agreements, Incident Management, Change Management, and/or Problem Management

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting IT systems
  • Providing technical support to the shift operators in resolving operations problems
  • Training and development of operation staff
  • Recognizing operations failures and responding in a timely manner to prevent and/or limit downtime and interruptions
  • Ensuring service delivery is successful in responding to client inquiries and resolving operations related problems
