About The Position

The OSS Supervisor is responsible for overseeing outside service operations to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective processing of castings and materials through external vendors. This role coordinates order entry, production entry, scheduling, shipping, supplier communication, and performance management while supporting APQP and new launch activities. The OSS Supervisor serves as a functional backup for order and production entry and acts as a key liaison between suppliers, internal teams, and customers.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, outside services, and supply chain coordination.
  • Experience with order entry, production entry, and ERP systems preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Coordination & Scheduling
  • Coordinate production flow and material priorities for castings sent to outside service providers.
  • Schedule outside services and ensure adherence to committed timelines.
  • Communicate schedule changes internally and externally to assess customer impact.
  • Support on-time delivery by proactively identifying and resolving schedule conflicts.
  • Order & Production Support
  • Train and serve as backup for order entry and production entry processes.
  • Ensure accurate system transactions related to outside services and production flow.
  • Maintain data integrity within ERP and supporting systems.
  • Shipping & Logistics
  • Prepare and process shipping documentation for vendor-to-customer and vendor-to-plant shipments.
  • Arrange and coordinate shipments to and from vendors and customers.
  • Ensure compliance with shipping requirements and documentation standards.
  • Supplier & Vendor Management
  • Communicate quality, delivery, and capacity issues with suppliers through Supply Chain.
  • Issue recommendations for outside service providers based on quote evaluations.
  • Track, manage, and report on vendor performance metrics.
  • Monitor and manage vendor-held inventory to support production requirements.
  • APQP & Launch Support
  • Participate in APQP activities related to outside services.
  • Support launch readiness by completing and maintaining required outside service documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth transitions during new product launches.
