This role is hybrid, onsite three days per week. The Port Operations Specialist supervises port and warehouse operations in remote locations, including but not limited to performing on-site inventory counts, supervising projects and working closely with sales, warehouse providers and transportation in order to ensure optimal order fulfillment.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field
  • Minimum 3+ years related logistics and supply chain experience
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workflow.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, flexible and adapts quickly to change.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% annually is required
  • Team oriented – Work well with others in a collaborative environment
  • Prior experience managing 3PL warehouse/drayage service providers

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SAP and Qlik Sense is a Plus
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a Plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage overall relationships with 3PL warehouse/drayage providers within assigned region.
  • Lead the onboarding of new 3PL warehouse/drayage providers and work with existing partners to ensure ongoing compliance with Arauco procedures and service level expectations.
  • Based on incoming shipment volume and outbound delivery projections, work with 3PL warehouse/drayage providers to proactively identify and mitigate potential storage/capacity and handling issues.
  • Facilitate meetings with 3PL warehouse/drayage providers to provide pertinent information concerning operational planning, issues and projects (repackaging, relabeling, etc.).
  • Actively manage containers inside/outside the ports and inland ramps.
  • Work with the Customs & Trade team to ensure containers clear customs and demurrage fees are paid in a timely manner. Identify containers that are incurring demurrage/per diem fees or about to exhaust free time.
  • Prioritize containers to 3PL warehouse/drayage partners and coordinate timely pickup and return. Identify containers that incur unplanned expenses due to port congestion or poor service provider performance so that claims can be generated as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with warehouses to ensure proper inventory turnover (FIFO).
  • Support onsite inventory counts to maintain accuracy and assist with the identification of units missing labels and removal of damaged units from inventory.
  • Assist with inventory reconciliations of 3PL warehouses and resolving discrepancies. Work with Inventory Management to maintain accurate inventory in SAP.
  • Coordinate internally with sales and transportation to coordinate return shipments.
  • Serve as a backup to assist in SAP transactions for inbound and outbound shipments as well as transfers of damaged or misplaced material.
