About The Position

The Department of Research & Health Promotion augments SYHealth’s clinical care with health promotion, research and care coordination programs for patients and community members. Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the PREVENT Program Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing SYHealth’s PREVENT Respiratory Epidemiological Surveillance Expansion Programs. Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Program Supervisor’s key responsibilities will include direct supervisor of staff, oversight of the implementation of all research activities, and monitoring progress towards goals and deliverables. Specifically, the Supervisor directly supervises the Program Coordinator, Research Assistant/Health Educators and Promotor/as and will be responsible for scheduling, supervision, and training of program staff including conducting annual performance evaluations. The Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operations of the project, interfacing with clinic staff and research partners; developing and refining of study protocols and other research documents; report generation & submission; data quality and assurance; onsite support or related duties. The Supervisor will be accountable for the strategy and execution of health education efforts regarding respiratory pathogens and comorbidities, including activities to increase awareness and education of related initiatives within San Ysidro Health clinic network in collaboration with the academic partners. The Supervisor will also be responsible for coordinating with clinic staff including providers/care team members as well as building and maintaining partnerships with community stakeholders. Finally, the Supervisor will work with the Program Manager to assure the quality improvement goals and objectives are enforced; development of protocols and procedures; conducting presentations and trainings.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent and minimum of 5 years of health education experience
  • Experience in providing health education and promotion activities and/or clinical research activities in a health care setting
  • Must have excellent English speaking and writing skills
  • Very strong presentation skills required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Outstanding organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced computer skills that include MS Office products and familiarity with EHR

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a BA/BS in a health-related field and 2 years of health education experience; or,
  • Other combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises study staff ensuring that program activities are carried out as planned
  • Participates in the recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; works closely with Program Manager to maintain a safe, secure, and legal work environment
  • In collaboration with the Program Manager, interviews, trains, mid-year and annual performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, staff schedule, and other areas as needed
  • In coordination with the academic partners, develops study staff schedules and verifies that schedules are opened in timely manner
  • Ensures MAs/PARs/call center staff maintained up to date on COVID-19 and other respiratory virus testing, outreach and educational activities and hours of operation
  • Demonstrate skills and abilities by following the guidelines in bio-samples collection, labeling, storage, and transport; provides oversight in sample collection processes including, but not limited to venipuncture, heel/finger stick, and/or saliva sample collection
  • Collaborates with the Program Manager to develop, edit, and submit study protocols and other research materials or regulatory submission documents as required
  • Reviews and comprehends each assigned protocol including study proceedings and timelines, inclusion and exclusion criteria, confidentiality, and privacy protections to ensure that study is in compliance with all terms and conditions
  • Develops/revises and ensures implementation of appropriate protocols, procedures and participant facing materials as needed
  • Acts as liaison with academic and clinical partners to coordinate and implement research activities, including coordinating and facilitating meetings as needed
  • Consistently reviews and analyzes program data to ensure accurate and timely data collection and evaluate assigned programs. Prepares and submits program reports as required in accordance with internal and funder requirements
  • Performs quality assurance and continuous quality improvement activities to improve program delivery
  • Establishes and maintains internal and external linkages and community partnerships and coordinates delivery of community outreach, health education activities and linkages to care
  • Represents assigned programs at internal and community meetings as assigned
  • Tracks and reports the progress of assigned tasks, keeping a log of discussion topics for internal and external weekly meetings
  • Addresses and ensures patient and customer satisfaction and effectively addresses complaints in a timely manner. Keeps Manager informed of problem areas and is lead contact for troubleshooting patient/ or provider inquiries/concerns
  • Works closely with Program Manager to ensure quality and corporate compliance including staff adherence to respective program and SYH policies and procedures
