About The Position

Empire Life is looking to hire a Product Manager, Insurance Products & New Markets to join our Retail - Insurance Marketing team! We are actively seeking candidates to fill a current, open position. The Product Manager, Insurance Products & New Markets is responsible for driving market awareness and maintaining the competitive edge of Empire Life’s insurance portfolio in new market segments. In addition to supporting Life & Health product development team goals, this position proactively manages the product lifecycle roadmap with a specific focus on product innovation and entering new market categories. The incumbent provides expertise to drive growth in both traditional and alternative distribution channels, ensuring Empire Life offers innovative solutions to meet customer needs at various life stages. The Product Manager acts as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for new market products, overseeing and taking full ownership of: Developing business plans and recommendations to reach new customer segments through product innovation and entry into untapped market categories to optimize growth. Partnering with Actuarial and IT teams to co-develop products, including involvement in pricing and profitability modeling, to implement the new product roadmap. Supporting growth by managing digital tools and acting as a consumer advocate to influence the user experience and ensure marketing strategies resonate with new target audiences.

Requirements

  • Completion of a University degree in Business, Commerce, or Actuarial Science.
  • 5+ years’ work experience in product management within the life insurance, financial services, or banking industries.
  • A well-developed ability to think creatively and lead the development of new products.
  • Highly analytical with the ability to conduct research, analyze data, and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks or projects
  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills, with the comfort to act as a technical SME.
  • Proven ability to build cross-departmental relationships with Actuarial, IT, and Sales teams.
  • Strong understanding of individual insurance products, regulatory environments, and diverse distribution channels.
  • Experience building a marketing brief and marketing plans
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); knowledge of Power BI software is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop recommendations and business plans to reach new customer segments through product innovation and entry into untapped market categories.
  • Work in concert with the Director of Insurance Product Marketing to implement the new product roadmap and manage the product lifecycle.
  • Partner with the Actuarial team to co-develop products, including involvement in pricing and profitability modeling.
  • Lead the annual evaluation and actioning of the new markets portfolio to ensure continued competitiveness.
  • Provide expertise to drive growth in both traditional and alternative distribution channels.
  • Act as the primary SME for new market products, providing education and support to Sales teams and distribution partners.
  • Partner with stakeholders to manage and promote digital tools, acting as a consumer advocate to influence the user experience.
  • Proactively track and analyze competitor products and positioning to maintain a superior value proposition.
  • Provide ongoing tracking and monthly monitoring reports for assigned products to Retail Insurance management.
