About The Position

Eurofins is seeking a Protein Characterization Scientist to support a client team focused on developing robust and efficient purification processes for recombinant proteins and other biological therapeutics across early to late-stage development. In this role, you will work in a collaborative environment performing analytical characterization, monitoring, and evaluation of in‑process samples. You will play a key part in optimizing product recovery, improving impurity clearance, and supporting data-driven process improvements. This position involves routine analytical testing, and requires strong expertise in biochemical and chromatographic analyses including HPLC (HIC, RP, SEC) and Octet. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of independently managing workflow and taking initiative on new projects.

Requirements

  • Strong background in protein chemistry, protein analytics, and bioprocess technology
  • Expertise with analytical chemistry tools including separation, chromatographic, spectroscopic, and other detection techniques used to characterize and monitor protein purification processes
  • Hands-on experience with UPLC/HPLC (SEC, HIC, IEX, affinity) and Octet assays
  • Working knowledge of Empower and/or ChemStation is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • BS with 2–4 years, or MS with 0–2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with HPLC (SEC, HIC, RP), protein purification, and Octet analysis
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow controlled laboratory procedures to produce reproducible data
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant data analysis software
  • Ability to learn new techniques, multitask effectively, maintain accurate records, and follow organizational policies
  • Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and within team settings; demonstrates initiative, adaptability, and a positive attitude
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SDS-PAGE, ELISA, and laboratory‑scale protein purification/chromatography is a plus
  • Working knowledge of Empower and/or ChemStation is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performing analytical characterization, monitoring, and evaluation of in‑process samples

  • Lead routine instrument calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs; interface with internal teams and vendors to support safe and effective laboratory operations

  • Maintain accurate electronic laboratory notebooks and databases in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality data supporting product development through early clinical phases
