About The Position

To use forklift or pallet jack to remove incoming raw materials from trailers and receive to cooler area for further processing. Receiver will perform quality checks verifying temperature, color and odor are acceptable and is also responsible for applying raw material labeling to combs of raw material received.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and write legibly and able to verbally communicate consistently with logical information to other team members information that could be essential and critical to the team meeting and exceeding processing expectations and goals.
  • No computer experience is required, however, in the position of the Receiver, the associate must be capable of operating equipment from a digital control board system or via a computer tablet.
  • Ability to define problems and determine root cause. Collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Responsible for technical understanding of job specific processes and decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Practice good safety, quality, and housekeeping habits.
  • The receiver must have taken the SR safety and operators course for forklift and pallet jack safety training and be certified to operate the equipment.
  • Receiver will perform a daily inspection of the forklift or pallet jack equipment being used, prior to operating the lift.
  • Will ensure trailer is properly locked out with a glad-hand lock before entering.
  • Will operate the forklift or pallet jack to move materials from trailer to a staging area on the floor with care to prevent damage to the equipment, trailers, tubs, pallets, and other production surroundings.
  • The receiver is to always be cautiously aware of the surroundings and will always give pedestrians the right of way.
  • Receiver will communicate with yard man via radio about the trailers to be placed in the door and pulled from the door. Receiver will also use Spotlight to enter data about the trailers being unloaded or loaded.
  • The receiver is to communicate and collaborate with Admin team on trailers to be received, labels and water weights needed.
  • The receiver is responsible for physically removing seals from trailers that are being received, utilizing metal cutting pliers.
  • Verify the seal number information and document that information on the receiving manifest. Seal must match the supplier BOL, if not, report to supervisor.
  • Will prepare a receiving manifest, after verifying the product on the supplier BOL is correct. Upon completion, turn in the receiving manifest to Admin.
  • The receiver is responsible to visually inspect and smell each combo for off color and off odor. They are also to look for natural and unnatural foreign materials, such as guts, gizzards, trash, metal, plastic, etc. If the product does not meet our specifications, then receiver is to notify supervisor and QA associates.
  • Receiver is responsible for taking an end of shift fresh inventory report and turning it into the Admin / Logistics departments.
  • The receiver is responsible for performing sanitation of their work area during their shift and at the end of shift. Sanitation tasks include removal of debris and trash on the floor, washing down of docks, walls, scale area and floors in assigned work area. Receivers are also responsible for outside sanitation of the docks and water collection areas beneath the docks, which includes removal of wood, meat, plastic and debris that may block the flow of water going to the outside drains and pit areas.
  • Receivers may be asked to rotate job positions with other workers if deemed necessary by the shift supervisor. Rotation of work job/tasks may involve working other in other job positions as needed. Since SRSC has a small work force, every job is flexible. Jobs also rotate to prevent ergonomic problems.
  • Receivers are to nurture and promote a team environment where individuals are treated with dignity and respect as they are working to reach a common goal.
  • Receivers will provide feedback, ideas, recommendations, suggestions and concerns to Supervisor or Superintendent during meetings or as situations dictate.
