Position Summary: Oversee the physical health of campers and staff, including the administration of medication and first aid services. Partner with campers, families, and counselors to provide the resources, training, and skills necessary for campers to be successful while at camp. Uphold all policies, procedures, and safety standards to ensure the wellbeing of all campers. Be an active participant in campers’ experience and camp community. This position is needed at Camp Silver Brook in West Bend, WI from July 27-31, 2026 (with possible additional dates if interested)

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Wisconsin certification as a registered nurse, practical nurse, physician's assistant, physician, emergency medical technician, paramedic, or hold current American Red Cross Emergency Responder, Responding to Emergencies, or Wilderness First Aid certification.
  • Must have current Adult and Child CPR certification or willingness to be trained.
  • Willingness to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout program, enroll as a Girl Scout member and have an approved background check completed by GSWISE.
  • Ability to reach remote locations of camp property quickly, lift/assist campers and staff and first aid equipment, if necessary.
  • Ability to work on a flexible schedule.
  • Provide your own transportation to and from camp each day.
  • Physical demands and work environments regularly require the employee to walk, hike, and work outdoors in wooded areas and on uneven natural paths.

Nice To Haves

  • Public health, school nursing, or pediatric nursing experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the health care for the camp- ensuring adherence to medical guidelines, health and cleanliness standards and adequate health conditions for all based on health standards, according to Wisconsin ATCP 78, and GSUSA Safety Activity Checkpoints.
  • Under the direction of health care standing orders, give first aid/medical treatment in cases of illness or accident.
  • Ensure each person at camp has a health history on file as required by state law and organizational standards and guidelines.
  • Report serious illnesses and accidents to the appropriate parties as outlined by the health procedures. Submit appropriate reports at the specified time.
  • Lead an orientation with volunteers providing overnight first aid coverage to familiarize them with procedures.
  • Monitor and evaluate day camp procedures, facilities, and conditions. Suggest modifications that would create healthier conditions at camp, when necessary.
  • Administer and record all intake and delivery of medications and health care provided.
  • Maintain first aid supplies and kits.
  • Compile daily attendance and other camp reports as necessary.
  • Comprehend and implement emergency procedures, if necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or Camp Director.
