The Fairbanks Command and Data Acquisition Station (FCDAS) is a 24-7 satellite tracking station operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in support of national and international operational and research environmental monitoring spacecraft. FCDAS occupies an 8,500-acre valley just outside of Fairbanks, Alaska and has in place all of the needed infrastructure required to be a self-sustaining campus. The Security crew is responsible for maintaining the ground security for this 8,500-acre site. Key Role: Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, inspection of buildings and access points. Permits access to site for employees, visitors and other authorized personnel. Written reports daily of irregularities, observations, and violation of policy and procedures. Controls traffic by directing drivers, contractors and visitors. Maintain organization's reputation by complying with all legal requirements set by the Federal Government and/or State of Alaska. Serve as the Security Manager for the armed security force at the Fairbanks Command and Data Acquisition Station (FCDAS). Work with the Customer and management team to plan site security policies and procedures. Identify and mitigate risks to site assets. Maintain manning levels to effectively support 24/7/365 FCDAS Operations and Maintenance tasks. Time keeping management – responsible for reviewing all operations personnel timesheets weekly for approval. Documentation and file management (primarily personnel files and required government files). Capability to work independently/remotely when needed/required. Attending customer supported/recommended teleconferences/video conferences.

Requirements

  • Must be a United States citizen (either by birth or naturalization) or permanent resident of the United States.
  • Experience in one of the following requirements:
  • • Two (2) years of service in the United States Armed Services (including Reserves or National Guard);
  • • Any combination of two (2) years of experience in physical security (as a security officer, armed or unarmed) and service with the United States Armed Services (including Reserves or National Guard);
  • • Associate Degree or higher in a security-related or law enforcement related field;
  • • Successful completion of a police officer’s basic training academy;
  • • Three (3) years of experience in physical security as a security officer, armed or unarmed.
  • Additional Requirements:
  • Possess a Current Drivers' License.
  • Have current certification in CPR/First aid or ability to acquire within first 6 months of employment.
  • Complete at least 40hr On the Job Training prior to being assigned a shift/job.
  • Available to work days, nights, weekends, holidays and up to 10hr shift lengths.
  • Basic Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in Operations Management including experience managing 6 or more personnel in an austere environment operating 24/7
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or US Permanent Resident
  • Ability to pass a government sponsored background investigation and fingerprint check.
