Security Officer - Main Gate Access
About The Position
As a Security Officer - Main Gate Access in Norfolk, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Aero/Defense, and more. Join Allied Universal at a leading aero and defense location supporting access control operations. You will greet employees and visitors, verify credentials, manage entry and exit points, monitor activity, and complete routine patrols and reports to help reduce security-related incidents. Requirements
- A guard card and/or license is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to employees, visitors, vendors, and/or contractors by following access control procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at an aerospace and defense location.
- Control entry and exit at designated points by verifying identification, issuing temporary credentials as authorized, managing visitor logs, and directing traffic to approved areas.
- Monitor alarms, cameras, radios, and/or access control systems and report irregular activity, policy violations, and/or equipment issues per post orders.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including escalating to site contacts and/or emergency services as required.
- Complete required reports and documentation such as daily activity logs, incident reports, and access control records, and communicate pertinent updates during shift turnover.
