About The Position

As a Security Officer - Reception Desk in New Haven, CT, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries. As a Front Desk Officer with Allied Universal at a residential housing location, you will welcome residents and guests, manage access control, verify credentials, and maintain clear visitor logs. You will monitor cameras and alarms, respond to calls for assistance, and document security-related activity with accurate reports. With a customer-first approach, you will communicate professionally, support property staff, and help to deter incidents through a calm, visible presence and integrity-driven service.

Requirements

  • A guard card/license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities as needed.
  • Staff the front desk by greeting and directing visitors, verifying identification and/or credentials, issuing visitor access items, and maintaining sign-in and sign-out logs per site policy.
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, and building systems from the reception area, report suspicious activity, and help to deter unauthorized access through presence and policy enforcement.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including documenting events and notifying site contacts and/or emergency services when appropriate.
  • Communicate clearly with Allied Universal leadership and site personnel, complete required reports, and support security-related administrative tasks such as key control and package handling per location guidelines.
