About The Position

The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of NASA's ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing and launch operations at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Exploration Ground Systems, Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services Programs. Engineering discipline shall be mechanical related and primarily pertains to operating and maintaining systems, and developing system subject matter expert knowledge and experience. Responsibilities include system analysis; developing plans, processes, and procedures; documentation preparation for payload and spacecraft processing; troubleshooting and resolution of mechanical system mechanisms, structures; and mechanical lifting and handling.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent; 10+ years or at a minimum 8+ with approved additional education, certifications, or licensure
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe software packages is required.
  • Excellent writing, communication, presentation, and customer interface skills required.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Must be well organized, flexible, and capable of effectively prioritizing several multidisciplinary tasks.
  • Self-motivated, demonstrate initiative, and able to work independently (or with minimal supervision).

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to navigate in KDDMS-Windchill (Kennedy Design Data Management System) and other Configuration Management (CM) systems as needed to support documentation peer review and release process is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks with limited direction and guidance from the manager.
  • Organize all details of tasks, including bu not limited to planning and scheduling, monitor progress to ensure timely completion, and plan and coordinate meetings, ensuring all logistical details are managed
  • Fundamental working knowledge in: o MS Office Suite o Adobe Acrobat o Visio
  • Demonstrated high-level written skills in English, grammar, and authoring language
  • Familiarity with proofreading engineering technical data.
  • Interface and communicate with engineering personnel, project management (PMs), and other contract counterparts on an as needed basis.
  • Ability to navigate in KDDMS-Windchill (Kennedy Design Data Management System) and other Configuration Management (CM) systems as needed to support documentation peer review and release process is preferred.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
