About The Position

The Senior Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) serves as a finance thought partner to pre-clinical and clinical operations and other research and development (R&D) teams. In this role you will be responsible for financial strategy, planning, forecasting, performance management and decision support. This role combines financial expertise with a deep understanding of drug development to ensure alignment of business strategies with financial stewardship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field; MBA is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Finance within biotech, pharma or life sciences
  • Strong business acumen with considerable FP&A experience supporting clinical operations or R&D is required
  • Strong knowledge of clinical trial processes, CRO contracts, and R&D operations
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data sets, distill insights, and make recommendations
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling, valuations and forecasting and variance analysis
  • Proven track record to partner effectively with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
  • Expertise in financial planning tools (Adaptive Insights) and ERP systems and accounting principles particularly clinical trial accruals
  • Self-starter with ability to operate independently, drive processes, identify and implement process improvements, establish and adjust priorities to achieve objectives and operate with speed and agility

Responsibilities

  • Partner with pre-clinical and clinical operations, R&D and other stakeholders to prepare, budgets, forecasts and long-range financial plans
  • Serve as a trusted financial thought partner providing insights and recommendations to guide decision-making
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant information for financial analyses
  • Support the month-end close activities in partnership with Accounting, including generating monthly accruals and spend analyses
  • Approve, track, and manage vendor commitments, purchase orders, and invoices to ensure proper financial control
  • Support the financial reporting process, including delivering actionable insights through financial dashboards, variance analysis, KPI tracking and management reports
  • Support strategic initiatives through scenario modeling and ad-hoc financial analyses to support decision making
  • Identify opportunities to continuously improve financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy of financial planning and reporting
