About The Position

We are hiring a full-time Social Science/Humanities Research Associate I in the Department of Psychology. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail; show proficiency in managing multiple tasks and working both independently as well as with a team. The Social Science/Humanities Research Associate I will be provided with training in clinical assessments and will gain experience in general research administration and the preparation of publications and conference presentations. This position is well-suited for individuals interested in pursuing graduate study in clinical psychology. The positions support clinical trials funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), the National Cancer Institute (NCI), and the Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) and are overseen by Drs. Requirements

  • A minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or a related field and prior research experience (including experience as a student).
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior research experience in a psychology lab, prior experience working in a psychiatric hospital or mental health care clinic, and has experience with the data management and use of software programs for statistical analysis such as REDCap and R-Studio.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating recruitment efforts for an ongoing clinical trial that examines tobacco cessation following psychiatric hospital discharge.
  • Travel to and from the psychiatric hospital and coordinating with hospital staff.
  • Organizing and overseeing data collection and study protocols, including management, cleaning, and preparation of data collected via online survey platforms.
  • Conducting clinical interviews and assessments.
  • Maintaining and revising IRB protocols and assisting with research compliance reports and procedures.
  • Supervision of undergraduate students conducting data entry and other tasks.
  • Interfacing with research and clinical staff to maintain effective communication regarding participant scheduling, data management, and quality control.
