About The Position

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract. As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations. Role Summary We are seeking an Engineer to lead the technical development and integration of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) systems within our vehicle platforms. This role requires an individual who defines technical paths forward when faced with complex engineering constraints and ambiguous system requirements. You will be responsible for the reduction of cabin noise across low-to-mid frequency bands, maintaining technical accuracy and meeting project milestones during high-pressure delivery cycles. This position demands a technical lead who manages their own workstreams and delivers results under strict production timelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design, tuning, and validation of Active Noise Cancellation systems, specifically for road and engine noise.
  • Successful integration of an ANC solution through to production within at least one automotive OEM environment.
  • Expert-level command of Siemens Simcenter Testlab (formerly LMS Test.Lab) for acoustic data acquisition and DSP Concepts Audio Weaver (AWE) for algorithm deployment.
  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a primary specialization in Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) or Structural Dynamics.
  • Proven track record of mitigating acoustic energy in the low and mid-frequency bands using active control methods and adaptive filtering.
  • Utilize Audio Weaver (AWE) to design, simulate, and deploy ANC signal processing blocks, ensuring compatibility with vehicle DSP hardware.
  • Execute vehicle-level testing using Simcenter Testlab to map secondary path transfer functions and determine optimal transducer placement for noise attenuation.
  • Deploy and optimize adaptive filtering algorithms to achieve targeted decibel reduction while ensuring system stability across all operating conditions.
  • Own the NVH delivery timeline for ANC, coordinating with Electrical and Software departments to resolve integration issues on schedule.
  • Create and maintain detailed engineering reports, calibration procedures, and validation protocols to ensure repeatable system performance across different vehicle trims.
