About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Student Support, the Student Support Coordinator serves as a member of the school’s administrative team and supports the development and implementation of systems that ensure all students receive the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports needed to thrive. The Coordinator promotes the school’s anti-racist, anti-bias goals by helping ensure equitable access to learning and support services for all students. The Student Support Coordinator collaborates with classroom teams, specialists, and school leadership to support the implementation of the school’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), monitor student progress, and coordinate student support processes. The Coordinator also assists with the implementation of services for students with EL, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 plans, ensuring practices align with federal, state, and District of Columbia Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) requirements.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to equitable and inclusive education for all students.
  • Understands and supports the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
  • Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and District of Columbia OSSE regulations related to student services.
  • Knowledge of related data systems such as Quickbase, SLED, CLICK and Special Programs.
  • Ability to analyze student data to support decision-making and intervention planning.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple processes and timelines.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and service providers.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintains a positive, flexible, and solution-oriented approach in a fast-paced school environment.
  • Experience working with diverse populations of students, parents, and families.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in special education, social work, counseling, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience supporting student support systems, intervention programs, or special education services in a school setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a public charter school or knowledge of District of Columbia education regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the coordination and implementation of services for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 plans.
  • Assists in the preparation and facilitation of IEP and 504 meetings.
  • Ensures that accommodations and modifications are implemented consistently in classrooms.
  • Collaborates with special education staff and related service providers to support students with diverse learning needs.
  • Supports the monitoring of student progress toward IEP goals.
  • Supports the school’s compliance with federal, state, and District of Columbia Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) regulations related to special education and student services.
  • Helps monitor timelines and documentation related to evaluations, IEP meetings, and related services.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation related to student interventions and support services.
  • Assists with the preparation of documentation for compliance reviews and reporting requirements.
  • Collects and monitors student data related to academic performance, behavior, and intervention outcomes.
  • Uses multiple data sources to identify trends and support decision-making related to student interventions.
  • Collaborates with school leadership and classroom teams to review student outcomes and adjust supports as needed.
  • Maintains systems for tracking student progress and intervention effectiveness.
  • Collaborates with classroom educators, specialists, and school leadership to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.
  • Serves as a liaison between teachers, families, and service providers to support student success.
  • Communicates with families regarding student support plans and available resources.
  • Participates in schoolwide meetings and events that support student well-being and community engagement.
  • Provides ongoing support and staff training on systems, processes and procedures to ensure student success.
