We are seeking a dynamic, motivated, and talented individual to join our team as the Studio Education Manager for our nationally recognized, cultural arts center in Washington, DC. This full-time, exempt position will bring support to our passion for building a sustainable community of artists, audiences, and students through high-quality performances, commissions, training, and educational programs. This is an on-site work opportunity with an annual salary range of $40,000 – $50,000. POSITION OVERVIEW The Studio Education Manager holds exclusive responsibility for overseeing the Kids on the Move (KOM) and Adult class programs, the Artist Master Class series, and the Intergenerational Family classes. This role also plays a vital role in the expansion of Dance Place's KOM and Adult class offerings. Reporting to the Education Director, the Studio Education Manager is responsible for handling registrations and financial tracking, supervising the teaching staff, fostering communications with families, and overseeing the Spring Youth Performance Showcase.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Minimum of 2 – 4 years of education program management experience in a nonprofit setting is required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Financial management experience within small- or mid-sized organizations,
  • Keen attention to detail with a focus on producing high-quality work products.
  • Familiarity with using Hi Sawyer or other registration management software.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work seamlessly across all departmental groups.
  • Google Suite (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Gmail) or similar web applications for day-to-day office administration tasks.
  • This position requires the ability to sit and stand for prolonged times; walk moderate distances; frequently lift/carry up to 25 lbs.; occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch; frequently communicate verbally with others; view a computer screen for prolonged periods; and perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers due to typing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management oversight of the KOM and Adult class studio education programs.
  • Coordinate class schedules and use of studio spaces.
  • Facilitates various tasks in an effort to expand the class offerings, including managing the Rotation series, curating the Master Class series, making open call selections, diversifying Intergenerational class options, and ensuring the availability of family-friendly KOM programs.
  • Allocate working hours to manage the front desk during KOM and Adult classes, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for KOM families and Adult class takers through regular communications and Hi Sawyer platform.
  • Fielding all KOM and Adult registration inquiries through phone calls, email, and monitoring of the kidsclasses@danceplace.org and adultclasses@danceplace.org email accounts.
  • Communicate and regularly evaluate KOM and Adult class teachers and assistants.
  • Responsible for onboarding, training, and management of Work Study Associates and volunteers.
  • Design and distribute contracts for KOM and Adult class faculty members three times per year.
  • Coordinate and manage the registration and payment processes for all classes.
  • Coordinate with Dance Place’s Communication staff on marketing and program details.
  • Maintain meticulous records of program data for reporting purposes, including monthly entries into the Development Report.
  • Create and maintain a program budget in partnership with the Education Director.
  • Enter and approve biweekly payments for teachers, assistants, and class hosts.
  • Manage, evaluate, and distribute program scholarships to selected recipients.
  • Develop and manage the partnership program with participating organizations.
  • Manage KOM interns, when applicable.
  • Manage and coordinate the annual Spring Break Camp and the annual Summer/Winter Intensives in collaboration with other Education staff and Presentation staff.
  • Attend biweekly staff meetings and education meetings.
  • Work closely with the Rentals Associate and Operations Manager to oversee studio management, studio maintenance, supplies (both education and facility supplies), and studio scheduling.
  • Foster coordination with other Dance Place departments, facilitating the exchange of data, program information, and reports.
  • Work collaboratively with the Presentation team to produce and manage the Summer Dance Intensives
