About The Position

This role reports to the Director of Studio Operations and supports the upkeep of the Design facilities, equipment, and supply inventory while also ensuring the safe and effective delivery of the Design programs [Industrial Design, Graphic Design, and Interior Architecture]. During the Academic Year (August - mid-May) Working closely with faculty and Studio Operations, this role is focused on the safe and effective delivery of the degree program curriculum. This includes significant management of facilities, equipment, studios, supply stores, academic infrastructure projects, and EHS compliance updates. During the Summer Months (mid-May - first week of August) Working closely with faculty and Studio Operations, this role is focused on the safe and effective delivery of the college’s summer programs (CECO, Summer term, others as assigned). This includes management of facilities, equipment, studios, supply stores, and special programs.

Requirements

  • Proficient working knowledge of digital fabrication processes, e.g., laser cutters, CNC routers, 3D printers, etc.
  • Broad working knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, and techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of tool and equipment safety and operation
  • Working knowledge of Adobe CC Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator
  • Familiarity with Microsoft and Google suite
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations, shop practices, and safe operation of tools and equipment.
  • Strong communication skills; responsiveness to student, faculty, and staff questions.
  • Ability to adapt to the different skill and experience levels of students
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks
  • Ability to work effectively with various groups
  • Ability to troubleshoot studio equipment and perform basic maintenance and repairs
  • Ability to identify departmental needs and opportunities for improvement and communicate those needs to their supervisor.
  • Working knowledge of A/V — projections, screen-based installations, audio-based installations, etc.
  • BFA/BA in Art and/or Design, Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or demonstrable equivalent professional experience
