About The Position

Open Door Mission is a Gospel Rescue Mission founded in 1954 committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty. Each day, Open Door Mission’s campus offers 917 safe, shelter beds to people experiencing homelessness, serves over 4,747 nutritious meals to feed the hungry, and provides homeless preventive resources to more than 1,000 people living in poverty to empower them to remain in their own homes Open Door Mission is seeking several Summer Camp Workers to assist with our Kids to Kamp program this summer! This would be a great summer opportunity for high-schoolers and college students looking to expand their resume, earn some money, and make an impact in their community! What is Kids to Kamp? Kids to Kamp is a full-service day camp dedicated to serving children experiencing homelessness When is Kids to Kamp? Weekdays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, as many as 100 children gather at Open Door Mission’s campus to enjoy summer in a safe and loving environment, May 26 - August 14. What's going to happen at Kids to Kamp? Kids to Kamp staff help Open Door Mission break the cycle of homelessness and poverty, one hour at a time. At Open Door Mission, Kids to Kamp staff celebrates a Summer of Hope during the warm months at Kamp! Bible Classes—children receive great Bible teaching each day at Kamp. Memory verses, songs, and lessons are enjoyed daily. Staff assist by sitting with the children keeping them attentive. Arts and Crafts—Assist group leaders as children engage in creative art and craft projects. Outdoor Fun—Assist in organizing and playing fun outdoor games with children of all ages. Field Trips—Find your seat on the bus, provide supervision and have fun as children visit all the summer fun locations in Omaha. Academic—Tutoring through the learning center.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Bible classes, helping children stay attentive during lessons.
  • Support group leaders in arts and crafts activities.
  • Help organize and participate in outdoor games with children.
  • Supervise children during field trips to various locations in Omaha.
  • Provide tutoring assistance in the learning center.
