About The Position

Amentum is seeking a System/Network Administrator summer Intern to support the Space Force Range Contract for a 10-week program. Position Summary The SFRC Summer Intern will support the daily operations, projects, and strategic initiatives of the SFRC team. This role provides hands‑on experience in a professional environment where the intern will assist with research, data collection, administrative tasks, field or technical support (depending on program needs), and coordination of departmental activities. The intern will gain exposure to organizational procedures, teamwork, and real‑world problem‑solving.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a college, or university program as a sophomore or higher (or a recent graduate)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage tasks, stay organized, and meet deadlines
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar tools.
  • Basic Information Technology system knowledge (Servers, Workstations, network transport equipment)
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and work in a team environment
  • Interest in SFRC‑related information technology fields (system/network administration, network engineering, and network operations
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows system administration
  • Experience with Linux system administration
  • Experience with information technology equipment (Servers, Workstations, Routers, Switches, and Firewalls)
  • Familiarity with digital collaboration tools (Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge relevant to the SFRC’s focus area (e.g., operations, field services, research, conservation, engineering—depending on the organization)
  • DoD 8570 Certification (Security+ CE or CISSP or CASP preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist SFRC staff with ongoing projects, daily tasks, and documentation.
  • Conduct research, gather data, and prepare summaries or presentations.
  • Support fieldwork, site visits, or technical activities as required by the unit.
  • Perform general administrative tasks, including scheduling, organizing files, and preparing materials.
  • Help maintain internal task tracking systems, databases, and data archives.
  • Participate in team meetings and technical reviews.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional departments to support broader SFRC initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
