About The Position

Reporting directly to the Director of Organizational Development, the Talent Development Manager will play an integral role on the OD team to support our HR strategy across the organization. Main areas of focus are supporting key talent initiatives including employee engagement, keeping a pulse on culture through employee interviews, performance, workforce planning & succession management, supporting our learning and development strategy, leveraging data to determine talent needs & challenges, and building standards around HR frameworks such as competencies and job catalogs. In doing this work, the Talent Development Manager will work collaboratively with various internal and external partners. Additional projects will evolve over time depending on strategic need in this rapidly growing nonprofit, so it’s critical that this person remains flexible, enjoys change, and can be productive through ambiguity. Successful candidates are systems-thinkers with experience in human resources and organization development, who can keep multiple competing priorities moving smoothly towards resolution. Prior experience with organizational development and initiatives and programs supporting and developing talent is ideal, and prior experience at Year Up United is preferred. In keeping with Year Up United’s values, this role will provide direct service to students in accordance with the expectations for all staff (e.g. joint coaching, mentoring, tutoring, etc.). Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional experience
  • 3+ years’ in HR/OD preferred, including leading talent management efforts in companies with multiple locations across the country
  • Strong project management experience, including the ability to plan and execute complex projects with limited oversight
  • Experience leading by influence: working with and through others, remotely, where no direct reporting lines or authority are present
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and managing organizational change initiatives, including stakeholder engagement, communications, and adoption support
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data to inform decisions, identify trends, and recommend actionable insights
  • Sound judgment, a high degree of professionalism, and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, mature interpersonal style, and the ability to interact with a diverse range of people
  • A willingness to take initiative, and the ability to be flexible while handling increased responsibilities matched with the desire to do whatever it takes to get the job done (no task too large, or too small)
  • Ability to navigate systems and technology
  • Understanding of the Opportunity Divide and its drivers

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Predictive Index®, Workday Learning, and Articulate a plus
  • Prior experience with organizational development and initiatives and programs supporting and developing talent is ideal, and prior experience at Year Up United is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with an HR leader on all surveys, data collection and analysis efforts to support strategic insights & decisions regarding staff engagement and organizational culture. This includes but is not limited to execution, data analysis, and drafting conclusions, and present findings/recommendations to appropriate audiences
  • Consult with internal clients to support their use of organizational survey tools
  • Oversee org-wide onboarding survey and exit survey/interview processes. Set up a system based on established industry-wide best practices, and document, share, and ensure consistent adoption
  • Collaborate with People Analytics Manager to analyze data and identify organizational trends and support action planning accordingly
  • Assess organizational needs regarding staff wellness in order to create, project-manage, and implement relevant solutions
  • Support workforce planning initiatives and the succession planning across the organization
  • Inform and execute Year Up United’s learning and development strategy, including the creation and facilitation of People Manager and All Staff trainings
  • Respond to data trends to support the learning needs of the organization
  • Lead our onboarding strategy, including Baseline Live, and provide resources to hiring managers to ensure a strong, inspiring onboarding experience for new hires
  • Maintain Workday Learning, Year Up United’s LMS, and audit regularly for quality control
  • Support the creation of learning materials in Articulate and Workday Learning in conjunction with Learning Professionals across teams
  • Support the use of Predictive Index® and facilitation of team reads across the organization
  • Lead the mid-year and end-of-year performance review cycle, including planning, timelines, and communications
  • Support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement the organization’s performance management framework in line with organizational goals and values
  • In partnership with DEIB, identify actionable trends from the performance process for improvement and learning and development
  • Provide support and oversight to ensure organizational priorities are translated into clear individual and team goals
  • Support a consistent, transparent process for promotion and retention of top talent across the organization
  • Keep connected to the general field of HR, and in particular OD, as a source of information and grounding, and to bring best practices to Year Up United
  • Support other HR and cross-functional activities as necessary and take on special projects as needed to serve departmental and organizational priorities
