About The Position

The Talent Development Senior Manager develops, implements and oversees attorney development, morale, engagement, and mentoring initiatives firmwide. Partners with the Chief Talent Officer and Global Talent Development Director and manages a team to execute projects, including Mentoring@Dechert, exit interviews and related data, industry surveys, feedback initiatives, and overseeing the Global Associates Committee and talent awards program. Analyzes qualitative and quantitative data from evaluations, exit interviews, surveys, and related sources to generate and deliver reports for stakeholders that identify trends and inform talent strategies. Maintains and ensures accuracy, integrity, and consistency of data across firmwide systems and identifies opportunities to streamline data management and reporting processes, ensuring efficiency and scalability. Works closely with senior leadership to develop firmwide communications, meetings, and presentations, including the annual State of the Firm and quarterly leadership presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Seven plus years of related experience in law firm professional development, including lawyer performance management.
  • Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data from various sources to identify trends and inform talent strategies.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and complete fluency with Excel and other relevant and emerging technology tools, including Workday.
  • Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve solutions/services.
  • Solve complex problems; take a broad perspective adapt existing and develop new solutions.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills and detail orientation.
  • Work independently.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience; direct the work of other staff members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organization, problem-solving, analytical, and management skills.
  • Ability to work with a team of highly-skilled professionals in situations that require diplomacy and confidentiality.
  • Outstanding presentation skills; confident speaking before large groups.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple concurrent projects to coordinate own work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the exit interview process for associates, counsel and business service professionals including conducting interviews, maintaining the departure information database and supervising quarterly reports to identify opportunities to improve retention and engagement.
  • Manage work related to attorney satisfaction surveys, articles and other submissions.
  • Manage firmwide associate/partner and business service professionals mentoring programs, including designing curriculum and relevant training.
  • Analyze multiple sources of data to generate and deliver reports that identify trends and inform talent strategies, including performance review trends.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline data management and reporting processes, ensuring efficiency and scalability.
  • Lead Global Associates Committee, including partnering with Committee chairs on initiatives related to associate morale.
  • Oversee firmwide peer-nominated Talent Awards program, recognizing individuals who champion diversity, innovation, and teaching.
  • Manage firmwide upward feedback for senior lawyers and business service professionals.
  • Work as part of a team to oversee various aspects of special projects, trainings, and morale events.
  • Work closely with Global Talent leadership to drive talent initiatives and serve as project manager on various talent programs.
  • Work closely with Diversity & Inclusion and the Diversity Committee on priorities relating to performance and engagement.
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members.
  • Manage the department budget.
  • Perform all duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Department and Firm.
