This position reports directly to the Sr. Manager Services Programing Development and is responsible for creating the in-person programing and instructional design to support the overall services education development strategic initiatives and priorities. This pivotal role executes and delivers impactful educational tools that support both salon professionals and field operations. This position is key to aligning training strategies with overall business objectives by leading and managing projects alongside subject matter experts to create effective learning solutions. It designs programing that supports the development of our salon professional in diverse learning styles through creativity and consistency, ensuring engaging learning experiences across various formats while optimizing user experience. Additionally, Technical Education Development Lead manages projects cross-functionally to develop content that aligns with Ulta Beauty’s training voice, visuals, and standards.

Requirements

  • Obtain current cosmetology license specializing in hair.
  • Exceptional Grammar and copywriting skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills and a fine eye for detail.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Suite, Monday.com, and Smart Sheets.
  • Incorporating multiple media elements into learning programs.
  • 7 years of professional hair services experience.
  • Minimum of 1 – 3 years of experience with instructional deign and program development, video development, instructor led training and training documentation.
  • Developed and polished presentation skills.
  • Content expert and proficiency with latest salon techniques with an emphasis on color, design, and texture.
  • Proficiency with use of equipment needed to perform technical work.
  • Ability to deliver the business information as given by ULTA.
  • Ability to attend all ULTA educational events and workshops.
  • Ability to maintain and present a fashionable, professional image (well groomed, clean, fashion forward).
  • Ability to build and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel with own transportation.
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time within all geography ULTA operates.

Nice To Haves

  • Big box retail and/or service management experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Organizational Development, Graphic Design, or a related field or equivalent professional experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical skill and training programs for service professionals to enhance performance and expertise.
  • Create and own the fluctuating services needs for backbar resources and service protocols to ensure consistency and efficiency in service delivery.
  • Drive awareness by leading the posting and communication of documentation to ensure all team members are informed.
  • Partner with the Regional Services District Managers (RSEM) and Services District Educator (SDE) field team by conducting T3 sessions and providing essential resources.
  • Design and update technical skill-building programs to strengthen the capabilities of service professionals.
  • Build and maintain engaging Ulta Academy slideshows and resources for effective learning and training.
  • Write clear and concise speaker notes, scripts, and self-guided learning tools to enhance learning experiences.
  • Execute new service pilots including testing, analysis and recommendation of new services/backbar products.
