About The Position

The Weber County Library seeks a detail-oriented, self-motivated individual to help with the preparation of print and media materials for public checkout. Clerical/cataloging tasks will be assigned as necessary.  If you enjoy behind-the-scenes work and have a passion for detail and a quality end result, apply today!  This is not a seasonal position. JOB OVERVIEW: As a member of the Library’s program implementation team, under the supervision of the Technical Services manager, this employee contributes to the daily operations of Technical Services by processing print and non-print materials; performing skilled mending of Library materials; and performing other clerical/cataloging tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities for the position.
  • Familiarity with standard software used in business applications such as Microsoft products, especially Word and Excel
  • Familiarity with current Web applications such as search engines, email interfaces, social media, and eBook and eAudio applications/commonly used devices
  • Understanding of Library mission and roles, and the general role of public libraries within a community.
  • Skilled in customer service.
  • Ability to work methodically with strict attention to detail.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks within established time frame.
  • Ability to work as a team member to accomplish results.
  • A commitment to public service and the ability to work effectively with a diverse patron base.
  • Ability to implement Library Board policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of the relationships and responsibilities of Library divisions and buildings.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a library cataloging department preferred.
  • Availability for morning, afternoon, evening, weekend, and some holiday shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Process print and non-print materials in accordance with Library standards and procedures
  • Follow through on procedures for collection evaluation and maintenance; contribute to processing and maintenance of specialty collections
  • Follow through with procedures to facilitate the Library’s interlibrary loan service
  • Mend print and nonprint materials
  • Promote the Library at community events
  • Preserve safety, appearance, and condition of Library facilities and property
