SUMMARY: The Telecommunications Tower Technician 1’s responsibility is to build and install telecommunications equipment on customer job sites, perform testing, and assist with all related tasks under direct supervision from a Telecommunications Tower Antenna & Line Lead or Foreman. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assist in performing jobsite system tests including, PIM, Sweep, Fiber OTDR, and optical power meters Build, install, decommission, assemble, and modify ground and tower telecom equipment to include setting RET’s, azimuths, down tilts, connect conduit, pull wire, build/test jumpers, and terminate fibers, coax, and AC & DC power cable Assist in troubleshooting site issues as they arise Route cabling including coax, AC & DC power cable and fiber optic cable according to site documentation and schematics Read drawings, plans and construction drawings Perform basic crane signaling to direct lifting and moving of equipment by crane operators Verifies that site materials are present and organized, identifies missing materials and informs Foreman Performs work on 250+ feet telecommunications towers, water tanks, building rooftops and in confined spaces in all weather conditions by climbing and working from aerial personnel lifts Cleans and organizes jobsites, tools and crew trucks and trailers Other duties as assigned
