About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Director, Business Development and Sales to join our growing Sales team! As a Director, Business Development and Sales, you will be responsible for leading, identifying, and developing new business opportunities in the United States utility sector. This role focuses on expanding Util-Assist’s presence across the U.S. by cultivating relationships, leading sales efforts, and driving strategic growth aligned with company objectives. The Director of US Business Development & Sales will lead business development and sales activities with the objective of growing organizational revenue and achieving profitability targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in the utility sector (electric, water, or gas), with a focus on business development, sales, or operations
  • Proven experience selling consulting or managed services to U.S. utilities, including public power, cooperatives, and investor-owned utilities
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales pursuits and RFP processes from initiation through contract execution
  • Experience developing and executing strategic growth plans to penetrate new markets or regions
  • Strong understanding of U.S. utility procurement practices, decision-making cycles, and stakeholder engagement
  • Leadership experience, including coordinating with cross-functional teams or mentoring sales staff
  • Deep knowledge of Util-Assist’s offerings and their alignment with utility sector business needs
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. utility industry, including electric, water, and gas operations, regulatory structures, and regional market differences
  • Familiarity with utility procurement cycles, RFP processes, and contract negotiations specific to the U.S. market
  • Awareness of the competitive landscape and trends in metering, operational technology, and utility modernization in the U.S.
  • Understanding of how regulatory drivers (e.g., grid modernization mandates, AMI legislation) influence utility investment decisions
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot) and sales enablement tools
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license (or equivalent)

  • Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot), lead qualification, and pipeline tracking

  • Solid understanding of regulatory, operational, and business dynamics affecting U.S. utilities
  • Advanced MS Office and presentation skills
  • Basic project management and financial acumen to support deal structuring and forecasting

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the inside sales enablement and cross-functional teams to align messaging and pursue leads effectively.
  • Support U.S.-focused marketing campaigns, outreach strategies, and conference participation.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from opportunity identification through contract execution for U.S. accounts.
  • Present Util-Assist’s value proposition through tailored presentations, proposals, and meetings.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key utility stakeholders, partners, and industry influencers.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue opportunities across electric, water, and gas utilities in the U.S.
  • Develop and execute a targeted U.S. go-to-market strategy in alignment with Util-Assist’s service offerings and strategic priorities.
  • Lead business development and sales initiatives within the U.S. utility market to drive revenue growth and market penetration.
  • Select customer referral strategies to increase client satisfaction and corporation portfolio growth.
  • Develop and execute marketing and sales strategies according to business objectives.
  • Qualify leads from marketing campaigns to sales opportunities.
  • Manage the sales cycle for new opportunities from inception to contract execution.
  • Present the company’s solutions and services to prospects/potential clients.
  • Proactively seek new business opportunities in the market.
