About The Position

Addie will contribute to the PSE/CELS directorate's RAPID-200 Autonomous Discovery Laboratory by establishing integrated experimental workflows, including MADSci interfacing. Her primary focus will be on integration of the XRD spectrometer, along with development of the associated workflows and data analysis pipelines. In addition, she will spend part of the summer collaborating with Northwestern University (NU) and Argonne National Laboratory’s Advanced Photon Source (APS) to apply these RAPID workflows to joint NU/APS research projects. Her appointment will include 6 weeks at ANL and 4 weeks at NU, where she will work under the supervision of Prof. Sossina Haile, who directs an ANL/NU EFRC on hydrogen-related materials and energy research. Addie is a double major in chemical engineering and computer science, which uniquely positions her to support Argonne's efforts in automation of our autonomous laboratories. As a SULI student last summer, she was trained to use the CELS-developed MADSci automation interface and gained hands-on experience developing a control module for one of our robotic platforms. This combination of domain knowledge and software expertise makes her an invaluable contributor to our lab’s autonomous systems integration efforts.
