About The Position

Yousuf will develop high voltage systems needed to perform an improved measurement of the electric dipole moment (EDM) of the radium-225 atom. Yousuf's work will involve building the hardware and software systems needed to safely and precisely apply up to 50kV to in-vacuum electrodes with precision timing and exact field direction reversals in coordination with other laboratory control systems. Yousuf will also develop the hardware and software to evaluate the applied field and monitor for leakage current between the electrodes. Finally, Yousuf will contribute to the development of other experimental systems such as laser, vacuum, electronic systems required to perform the radium EDM measurement.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled full-time at an accredited institution.
  • Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
