About The Position

The Workforce Readiness Coordinator (WRC) works closely with Club members to develop their passion and interest in various careers, with a strong emphasis on those that do not require a 4-year degree. This position manages workforce development opportunities for Brevard County Clubs, creating, planning, developing, managing, and overseeing the workforce development program for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida-Cocoa Branch. The coordinator collaborates with Workforce Development Teen Specialists at the Temple Terrace (Melbourne) and Titusville Branches. In partnership with community-based organizations and private-sector employers, the WRC works to enhance employment opportunities and in-club and out-of-club experiences for members.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or combination of experience and education.
  • Six months of experience working in a service organization, emphasizing workforce development programs and activities.
  • Proficiency in using technology and data, including Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce Database, and project management tools.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid certifications within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and consistent access to a vehicle with appropriate insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a safe environment through learning, implementing, and monitoring safety-related best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote accountability to safety through consistent observation, adherence to safety rules and practices, and proactive communication among members, parents, peers, and leadership.
  • Obtain and maintain Mandated Reporter training and complete annual Child Abuse Prevention training.
  • Coordinate with the Club Service Director and Program Director on strategic initiatives and the implementation of workforce readiness programs and activities.
  • Support Service Director and Program Director with program logistics, events, data tracking, and training.
  • Coordinate and support county-wide program activities, such as club-based community events, open houses, training, parent events, and trips.
  • Collaborate on an annual action plan for the Workforce Readiness Program, including year-end objectives, main activities, and assessment measures.
  • Assist in the recruitment of community partner volunteers for the WFD program.
  • Provide career and workforce opportunity guidance and exploration activities to teens as needed.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, school staff, local businesses, and key stakeholders to increase Workforce Readiness outreach efforts.
  • Coordinate guest speakers from various professional fields to share information about careers and college experiences.
  • Seek out enrichment and academic opportunities for students, including certification programs, trade school scholarships, extension classes, youth exchanges, and community service opportunities.
  • Operate a personal or company vehicle to travel to event sites and oversee events and member field trips.
