We help teams say “yes” more often and help customers move forward with confidence. Sunbit is seeking a world-class Senior Manager of Tax to join our Accounting team. This is a tremendous opportunity for an experienced tax professional who is looking to advance their career and lead the tax compliance function for a successful, fast-growing FinTech company. In this role you will build out our tax compliance capabilities and work cross-functionally across various departments and outside tax advisors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with Big 4 (or equivalent) and/or large corporate tax department of a US or multi-national company
  • Solid experience preparing and reviewing US income tax compliance
  • Advanced understanding and experience with ASC 740
  • Knowledgeable in generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax issues to non-tax personnel; effectively communicate with external parties
  • Self-starter with the ability and willingness to exercise independent judgment and take appropriate action
  • Strong organizational skills to manage deadlines and multiple projects and responsibilities timely and effectively, attention to detail
  • Ability and willingness to be hands-on and dive into details

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of income tax compliance working with internal and external resources
  • Review the corporate federal, state and foreign corporate income tax returns to ensure they are accurately prepared and timely filed
  • Review all federal and state income tax payments, including extensions and estimates
  • Oversee all documentation, implementation, and accounting for all income tax processes, ensuring all controls are being followed and documented.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with external tax compliance firms and advisors
  • Support the accounting for the income tax provision (ASC 740) including review and preparation of the income tax provision (annual and quarterly) and all related assumptions, analyses, journal entries, calculations, and annual footnote disclosures
  • Satisfy information requests from external tax compliance firms for their preparation of federal and state tax returns
  • As appropriate, respond to state and federal notices
  • Whenever necessary, support tax audits by the federal and state governments
  • Support other areas in the company requiring tax guidance, including but not limited to sales and use, personal property, payroll, compensation and benefits, 1099 reporting, etc.
  • Identify risks, obstacles and issues, recommend solutions and work with management and outside advisors to resolve issues
  • Provide subject matter expertise and informal training to the internal teams
  • Assist the FP&A team by preparing periodic forecasts of taxable income, tax expense, and cash taxes payable
  • Take on additional projects and duties as needed
