About The Position

Ravenscroft is seeking a Science Teacher and Advisor (2026–2027) in the Upper School Science Department to contribute meaningfully to our student-centered, mission-driven community. This is a full-time, exempt, 10-month faculty position. This role is ideal for someone who takes initiative, collaborates thoughtfully, communities clearly and continuously reflects and grows as part of the school community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Science Education
  • Strong content knowledge and enthusiasm for teaching Upper School science
  • Clear communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills

  • Growth mindset, curiosity, and openness to feedback and professional growth

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Science, Science Education, or a related field
  • Experience teaching Upper School science in a K–12 or independent school setting
  • Experience supporting social-emotional learning inside and outside the classroom
  • Willingness and ability to participate in the broader school community, including coaching athletics and/or Science Olympiad

Responsibilities

  • Teach a full course load (approximately five sections) of Upper School science which may include Biology, Chemistry, Physics and/or science electives.
  • Design and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction aligned with Ravenscroft’s mission to nurture individual potential and prepare students to thrive in a complex and interdependent world.
  • Create inclusive learning environments that support diverse learners through culturally responsive teaching, differentiated instruction, and adaptive pedagogical practices.
  • Infuse lessons with current events, relevant fieldwork, laboratory research, and meaningful use of technology and creativity.
  • Serve as an advisor to approximately 12 students, supporting their academic, social-emotional, and leadership development through the Lead From Here curriculum.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and utilize instructional technology and learning management systems, including Canvas and Veracross , to support student learning and departmental goals.
